Easy peasy

This was a really easy kit to put together & looks great. Maybe took 2 hours to fully assemble. I opted for the stainless steel hardware for extra durability -- the Robertson head 3 inch screws stripped very easily, but only happened to a couple of them (once partially in, the only option is the hacksaw them flush). The only other thing that might have been helpful is a clear diagram with dimensions (i.e. distance between posts for setting the foundation). If this was available, using deck blocks as the foundation would be really easy so that it isn't sitting directly on soil.

3x10 pergola

All parts were contained in the kit (wooden plus hardware). The kit comes in one box and it is heavy. The freight delivery helped me break it down and move parts to the backyard. Assembly instructions OK but it would have been nice to have a foot-print diagram for the legs. Assembly of the upper frame is easy; however, elevating the upper frame on the 4 legs is difficult and requires 3-4 people for stability and strength.

All assembly holes lined-up and SS hardware was high quality. Cedar splits easy so be careful in stressing joints.

We live on a Great golf coarse in South Carolina and needed a Pergola that would hold up to high winds with the occasional storms we get down here.We also ordered the sun shade that slides out for added shade on hot days. It also works well with light rain giving you use on drizzley days.Needless to say we get a LOT of Compliments on our Beautiful Pergola!

This comes with a lifetime warranty and you never know how good a warranty is or company giving it until you need a repair. After about 2 years we had to have a repair done. FifthRoom did the repairs promptly and properly and when your 70 that’s good to know, there’s still companies that keep their words and honor their warranties.

It's a high quality product but there were some split boards and imprecise cuts. Definitely a 3 person job. Would recommend it and would buy it again. We've had it up a month and are very pleased with the quality and appearance.

Lots of Compliments

I assembled the Pergola on an existing deck that our home builder put on our new home. I also added lighting that I wired using Echo plug device so I step on the deck say, "Echo-Deck lights on" and we are ready to party. The neighbors are envious and have all complimented on how perfectly it fits in. Thanks Fithroom.com, you make me look good!! PS-I have told them where they could order their Pergola and indicated how simple it was to "build".

Ran out of 2.5" and 3.5" screws, had to supplement with some of my own. A pair of the columns were cut "deeper" on one side, luckily I noticed and matched the deeper cut sides so that it did not cause the top out of level.

Just beautiful

Fifth Room is a great name for the company. We now feel like we have an elegant outdoor "room". We love the arched design. Almost like a vaulted ceiling. Pretty easy to put up, and the stain is nice too. My contractor is already recommending this to other clients.

Looks Great & Very Functional

Needed to provide shade on the south facing patio of our new home. Researched several Pergola kits and decided Fifth Room had the best, especially loved the 10' x 14' pressure treated four beam design. Also got great "preseason" pricing and free shipping.Arrived on date promised and in good condition. The kit was stored in my garage for a month because I wanted to expand my patio before installation. During that storage period we stained all components with solid color stain, certainly easier to stain prior to assembly. The pressure treated wood components were kiln dried so there was no issue with immediately staining.Assembly was easy and took three of us a half day to complete. The only problem was some rafters had warped a little during the storage period and had to be forced into position.After the installation was complete we realized the shade provided by the rafters alone was not enough. I purchased polypropylene lattice panels at a local home improvement store and cut to fit between upper rafters. Result was the perfect amount of filtered shade. Love the look and function of the finished product.

Great product

Product is super quality and easy to put together even for a dummy like me took me with my son about a day and a half after I stained it. One recommendation I have that makes the heavy beams easy to install is to screw a piece of 2x 6 over each end of the beam and then let hang while you put the screws in. much easier and you ca do it with two guys.

This pergola is exactly what we were looking for. The kit and delivery came as expected, with on exception; there was damage to the base trim pieces, which were split and needed to be repaired. We were able to do this easily enough ourselves and did not ask for reimbursement or replacement pieces. We were anxious to get the structure up. The instructions were clear and all the necessary hardware was there. We love the two stains that we chose. My husband and I put this together over the course of two days - not counting the prep work of placing the anchor pieces in cement.

It met my expectations. It really does feel like another room. I was very glad that I painted it before it was put together.

The people I dealt with on the phone were very helpful.The day before the delivery someone called and said that the pergola would arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 A:M We felt that It would not be very nice to expect our family members to come and help at that time. When the delivery guy arrived,We were amazed to see how the trailer work. He had a remote control that did all the work. We did not have to do a thing. He placed the crate right in front of the garage door.

very easy to put up in one weekend, and the good thing about it is done with all screws there is no ugly lag bolts sticking out so you can see them.

They worked with me very good on the shippment and it was here around the time they told me.If you get one unstained it is a lot better to stain all the boards on the top part before you put them up, and then you can stain the rest when you are done.it took me one day to do the roof cause i had to turn boards over to get both sides, and it took me about three hours to do the rest after we got the roof on.

A GREAT Addition to our backyard

Assembly was extremely easy. Once I had the holes drilled in my concrete patio, it took about 1 day for me and my 10 year old son to assemble. The pergola is well constructed and very sturdy. My only complaint that may have been unique to my installation was the concrete anchors provided would not tighten up in the holes I drilled. I went to my local home center and purchased a different type of compression anchor and it worked fine.

Very Happy with our New Pergola

We love the look of our new 10 x 12 Cedar Pergola! It is well-constructed with high-quality lumber and fastening screwsl and looks better than many similar structures I have seen that were constructed on site by professional carpenters. It was very easy to install and went up quickly. (I am a do-it-yourself homeowner and it took about 8 hours for me to put it together by myself with a little help from my wife.) Some suggestions on the installation:- If you are installing concrete footings for the post brackets, make sure you are very careful to construct and use the template exactly as specified in the directions to locate the footings and post brackets. Otherwise, you may have trouble with the posts being plumb and spacing of the beams between the posts.- If you are going to stain the structure, as we did, do the staining prior to constructing it.- Rather than relying on the penciled factory markings for locating the 2x6 main rafters, lay them all out on the beams before fastening and then place the first and last notched 2x4 top rafters on the main rafters. This will insure the main rafters and top rafters fit together properly before fastening the main rafters to the beams.

Fantastic Quality and Value!

Excellent product, well constructed and easy to build. After staining the parts earlier I took a just over half a day to assemble it on our patio. After that there ws nothing left to do but sit back and admire the finished product. We couldn't be happier - it's everything we wanted in a pergola and more.

Easy to build and solid

10x12 Pergola

The Pergola was shipped without any damage.We assembled it in two weekends.After about two months we noticed a cracks getting larger on one of the posts.They have continued to get longer and wider ever since then.I might add,cracks are on three out four sides.I have contacted Fifthroom and they said they will replace the post.Pictures have been sent.

If I get a new post to replace the damaged one,it will probably take me two to three hours to remove the bad one and install the new one.

Enjoying the new neghborhood gathering place.

We are very please with our vinyl pergola. We were impressed how well everything was packed in the shipping kit. All parts were okay. With the easy to follow instructions provided with the kit, it took 2 of us a little over 6 hours to assemble. All the screws were clearly marked. We were also very impressed how sturdy the structure is. The pergola is anchored in a concrete patio. A month and a half after we had installed the pergola. We had a bad storm with 90mph winds. The pergola did not move. The 2-beam pergola has been a beautiful addition to our back yard patio area. We will be enjoying it for years to come.

Beautiful and sturdy design made this pergola the right choice for our yard. We needed a better base for our grapevine to grow and flourish - this was perfect. We hope to be tasting wine in the shade of our grape arbor for many years to come.

PERGOLA PERFECT ADDITION TO OUR BACKYARD

We totally enjoy our new pergola: it has enhanced our backyard experience tremendously. We have added green hanging plants and white electric lights which has added to the ambience of our outside living. Each morning and evening we sit under our new pergola enjoying the great outdoors; it's terrific.

Great addition to our backyard!

Excellent product with all of the appropriate hardware included. Put together buy our contractor friend in half a day! We put rope lights around the top inside edge and hung an outdoor chandelier from the center. It's an awsome outdoor "room".

Great Product

Very clean presentation of Materials and design as a finished product. The steel mounting brackets provided for surface mounting were inconsistent in there assembly and made it difficult to square the beams initially. Also the surface mount design does not lock the pergola in place. The corner bracing did not provide enough cross bracing to stop the structure from twisting.

Some material was damaged during transport. They rushed out new product overnight to repair it the problem at no charge. Very good service.

Received the wrong instruction manual. Tried to pound a 3/4 inch anchor into a 1/2 in hole. YOU DO NEED TO PREDRILL THE HOLE!!
